Make Your Delivery Day Smooth and Stress-Free
Getting a hospital bed delivered to your home is a big step toward improving comfort, safety, and care.
Whether you’re receiving curbside delivery or upgrading to Premier In-Home (White Glove) Delivery, a little preparation ahead of time can make the entire process faster and easier.
Here’s a simple 5-step checklist to get ready for your hospital bed delivery.
1. Clear a Path for Delivery
-
Make sure all pathways, doorways, and hallways are clear.
-
Remove rugs, furniture, or other obstacles that could get in the way.
-
Pay special attention to tight corners or narrow hallways if your home has them.
-
-
If you’re receiving curbside delivery:
-
You will need to move the bed into your home yourself or arrange for help.
-
Tip: For large items delivered on pallets, a wide, flat entryway is ideal.
2. Measure Your Space
Before delivery day, double-check the measurements of:
-
The room where the bed will go
-
The doors and hallways the bed needs to pass through
Standard hospital bed sizes:
-
Bed width: approximately 36 inches
-
Bed length: approximately 80 inches (more if using an extension kit)
Make sure the room has enough clearance around the bed—ideally at least 2–3 feet on each side for safe transfers and caregiving.
3. Locate a Power Outlet
Hospital beds require electricity to operate motors for height, head, and foot adjustments.
-
Ensure a standard electrical outlet is nearby.
-
Use a surge protector to safeguard the bed’s electronics during storms or outages.
If you ordered additional electronic accessories (like low air loss mattresses or powered rails), they may need their own outlet as well.
4. Plan for Setup Help if Needed
-
Curbside Delivery:
-
The delivery driver will leave the bed outside your home.
-
You are responsible for moving the bed inside and setting it up.
-
-
Premier In-Home Delivery (White Glove Service):
-
Our team will bring the bed inside, assemble it, and remove all packaging materials.
-
Tip: If you didn’t select Premier In-Home Delivery but now feel you need assistance, call us at 888-413-8994 as soon as possible—we may be able to upgrade your delivery if it hasn't shipped yet.
5. Inspect the Bed Upon Arrival
Before signing for delivery:
-
Check the packaging for visible damage.
-
Open and inspect the bed carefully.
-
If there is any damage:
-
Write "Package Damaged" on the delivery receipt.
-
Take photos and notify us immediately.
-
Proper inspection ensures any shipping damage can be handled quickly through a claim.
